Delores was born March 29, 1922, in the town of Brighton, Marathon County, the daughter of the late Oscar and Clara (Raether) Habeck. She attended a small country school in the town of Brighton later returning to help out on her parent’s farm.

Delores married Merlin Justman at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Town of Brighton, on March 30, 1940. Sadly, he passed away September 25, 1991. She was a dedicated wife and mother and along with her husband Merlin, raised three children and operated a dairy farm. Those who knew the family were quoted in saying ”Delores raised a good family”.

She was very involved with local organizations’ including her membership to Trinity Lutheran Church in Unity, Trinity Lutheran Ladies Aid, Clark County Extension Homemakers, Clark County Historical Society, the Colby/Abbotsford Business Professional Woman, the Spencer Senior Citizens Group and the Maplewood Badgers 4H Club which she co-founded. Not only was Delores part of these groups, she held offices in most all of them. One of her cherished accomplishments was being selected as Farm Wife of The Year in 1978.

Hobbies included writing letters, creating beautiful placemats and note cards and in later years she was an avid shutterbug with her cameras.

Survivors include her children, Alan (Nancy) Justman of Rockford, Ill., Kathie Siikarla of Eagle River, AK, and Steve (Barbara) Justman of Unity; six grandchildren, Ann (David) DeVerneuil of Loves Park, IL, Beth (Dan) Watton of Caledenia, IL, Craig Justman of Tempe, AZ, Brett (Renee) Siikarla of Cato, Angela Justman of Green Bay and Scott Justman of Appleton; three great grandchildren, Zachary and Elizabeth Siikarla and Olivia Watton; and one brother, John Habeck of Blanchard, ID., along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Delores was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Merlin; one son, Dennis in 1941; and one grandson, Quinn in 2009; and nine brothers and sisters.

Those wishing to provide a gift of remembrance in Delores’s memory are encouraged to do so to either Trinity Lutheran Church in Unity or Clark County Historical Society.
