Peterson, Esther Elizabeth (2 October 1895 - 20 October 1970)

Mrs. Esther Peterson, 75, died suddenly October 20 at her home. The former Esther Elizabeth Blomquist, daughter of Edward and Emma Blomquist, was born October 2, 1895, in Rockford, Ill. She came to the Greenwood area with her parents in 1908. She was married October 4, 1911 to Albert Peterson in Greenwood. He died March 22, 1947. They farmed 2½ miles south of Greenwood, where Mrs. Peterson had resided ever since. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and its Women’s Society of Christian Service.

Survivors are a son, Lloyd Peterson of Greenwood; two grandchildren, Mrs. Wayne (Jo Ann) Voss of Christie and Jerold Peterson of Anchorage, Alaska; and three great-grandsons, Jeffrey, James and Jerrold Voss.

Funeral services were held Saturday from Grace United Methodist Church. The Rev. Lee Holmes of Marshfield officiated. Burial was made in the Greenwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers, all nephews, were Curtis Mayenschein, Clarence Butler, Clarence Hall, Arnold Hubert, Roy McConnell and Gerald Jollivette. “What a Friend we have in Jesus” and “Whispering Hope” were sung by Mrs. Wayne Voss, accompanied by Mrs. Kenneth Voss.

People from away attending were: Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Hubert, Ole Sather, Mrs. Lucy Harrington and Miss Marilyn Mayenschein, Milwaukee; Roy McConnell, Beloit; Mrs. Evelyn Markee, Redmond, Wash.; Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Mayenschein, Clarence Butler, Eva Pede and Miss Carol Mayenschein, Thorp; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Hall and Robert, Wisconsin Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Voss, Mrs. Marie Voss, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Voss and Mrs. Albert Wehrman, Loyal.
