St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Loyal, was the scene of the wedding of Miss Diane Marie Hansen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leland Hansen, route 1, Granton, and Harry Helwig, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank L. Helwig, Neillsville.

The Rev. Aquinas Helwig, O.F.M., a brother of the groom, officiated at the 12:30 o’clock ceremony Mass, on Saturday, July 23. St Anthony’s Choir sang and organist was Michael Tucker.

As the bride placed a bouquet on the altar of the Blessed Virgin “Queen of the Rosary” was plated. Peach gladioli bouquets adorned the church altar for the occasion.

The bride was given in marriage by her father was seen in a gown of double silk organza sheath style with a scoop neckline, semi-empire waist with alencon lace appliqué, and a detachable chapel-sweep train also trimmed with the appliqués and alencon lace. Her bouffant elbow-length veil on silk illusion fell from a forward headpiece of organza and chantilly lace petals edged with pearls and crystal droplets, and a large white orchid surrounded by a cascade of autumn roses.

Miss Mary Ellen Hoeser, Milwaukee, was the maid of honor. Miss Emerica Helwig, Neillsville, bridesmaid, and Lorraine Hansen, Granton, junior bridesmaid. Barbara Hansen, Thompsonville, Connecticut, and Cynthia Hansen, Rockford, Illinois were flower girls.

Their gowns were floor-length sheaths with scoop necklines and bodices of reembroidered turquoise lace and skirts of aqua chiffon over taffeta accented by empire waistbands of turquoise satin. The bridal aides carried cresent bouquets of turquoise and white daisies.

The groom chose for his best man Andrew Helwig, Ames, Iowa. Roger Sackman, Athens, and Adrian Helwig, Neillsville served as the groomsmen. Kenneth Hansen, Thompsonville, Connecticut and William Wiesjohn Neillsville, did the ushering duties.

A reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents following the ceremony. The 5 o’clock dinner was served at the church hall and the wedding dance was held that evening at the Silver Dome Ballroom.

The bride is a 1963 graduate of Loyal High School and attended Spencerian College in Milwaukee. She has been employed there by Rank and Sons Buick Inc. Her husband is a senior student at Wisconsin State University-Stevens Point.

August Renack, Glenview, Illinois; Mr. and Mrs. James Helwig, Webster, South Dakota; Mr. and Mrs. William Hein and daughter, Milwaukee; Mrs. Harry Hansen, Humbird; Mr. and Mrs. Gary Gilbertson, Kenosha; Mr. and Mrs. Melnard, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Seelow and sons and Miss Mary Golden, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Brown, River Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Jackson and daughter, Greenwood; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Prock, Neillsville; Mr. and Mrs. Durwood Walker and family, Fairchild; Mr. and Mrs. John Mazola and family, Roselle, Illinois; Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Oliver, Alma Center; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Pisy, Williamssett, Massachusetts; and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Wrobel, LaCrosse.

After a wek’s wedding trip to Emo, Ontario, Canada the newly weds will reside at Stevens Point.
