Szatalowicz, Julia (18 FEB 1873 - 4 JUN 1947)

Funeral services were held at St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church on Saturday, June 7th, 1947 for Julia Szatalowicz, who passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Paul Cukla in the town of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) on Wednesday, June 4th, 1947 at five o’clock in the morning. She had reached the age of 74 years, 3 months and 21 days.

Julia Horaczynski was born in Lomazy, Poland on Feb. 18th, 1873. She was united there in marriage to Frank Szatalowicz on Aug. 12, 1893. They immigrated to this country in the same year and were among the first pioneer settlers of this community, having resided in the town of Thorp for the past 54 years.

Julia Szatalowicz was a member of the third order of St. Francis, the Holy Rosary Society, the Apostleship of Prayer, and the local P.N.A. group.

She will be remembered by her children and grandchildren and by her numerous friends and acquaintances for her fine example of a good Catholic, always willing to give spiritual guidance and helping hand.

She leaves to mourn two sisters in Poland and five children: (Anna) Mrs. Frank Zajac, (Sophie) Mrs. John Zdrojkowski, (Mary) Mrs. Thomas Szatalowicz, (Harriet) Mrs. Paul Stobinske and (Frances) Mrs. Paul Cukla, and twelve grandchildren. Her husband and two children preceded her in death.

A requiem high mass was conducted Saturday at ten o’clock in the morning by Rev. Francis Piekarski, pastor of St. Hedwig’s parish, and by Rev. Chester Moczarny, assistant of St. Mary’s parish at Tomah, Wis.

The body was laid to rest in St. Hedwig’s Catholic Cemetery. The following acted as pallbearers: Jos. F. Czech, Stanley Dubicki, Frank Wyczawski, Victor Zielinski, Joseph Tobola, and Michael Kaminski.

Those who attended the funeral from out of town were: Mrs. Anna Zajac, Mr. Stanley Zajac, Emmett, Mich.; Mr. and Mrs. Paul Stobinske, Chicago; Rev. Chester Moczarny, Tomah; Mrs. Alice Carlson, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Coliodora and sons, Minneapolis; Mrs. Jos. Stcynski, St. Paul; Lorraine Szatalowicz, R. N., Milwaukee; Marion Szatalowicz, Alma, Kansas.
