Lukowicz, Ida (30 Sept. 1882 - 13 May 1958)

Mrs. Ida Lukowicz died of a heart attack early Tuesday morning at the Marshfield, Wisconsin Hospital at the age of 75 years. The body is at the Lulloff Funeral Home where the Christian Mothers recited a rosary Wednesday evening. A general rosary service will be held this Thursday at 9:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held Friday at 9:30 A.M. in St. Mary’s Catholic church, Rev. John B. Pinion officiating, and burial will be made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery.

Mrs. Lukowicz, the former Ida Gierl, was born in Colby, Wisconsin on September 30, 1882, and was married to Leo J. Lukowicz on June 6, 1904. They operated the Lukowicz Photo Studio in Colby until his death in June, 1928, when she took over the management until 1947 when her sons took over the business. She was a member of the Christian Mothers Society and Royal Neighbors.

Surviving are two sons, John of Owen and Leo Jr., of Colby; two daughters, Mrs. Clem (Ann) LaFond of West DePere and Mrs. Duane (Jane) Baumgart of Marshfield; two brothers, George Gierl and Louis Gierl of Colby; three sisters, Mrs. Hugo Dhein of Clintonville, Mrs. Mary Dietrich of Milwaukee and Mrs. Kathryn Seabury of Grand Rapids, Mich.; four grand children; one great grand child.

Mrs. Lukowicz, like all the early settlers of Colby, was well known for her fine Christian character and generous and hospitable ways, always cheerfully performing her duties.

Funeral services for Mrs. Ida Lukowicz were held in St. Mary’s Catholic church Friday morning, Rev. John B. Pinion officiating, and burial was made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery. Pall bearers were Ken LaFond, Phillip Lukowicz, Floyd Gierl, Edward Gierl, Morris Gierl and Peter Gierl.

The out-of-town relatives and friends here for the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Gierl, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Gierl, Mary and Elizabeth Gierl, Mrs. Charles Ohlinger, Mrs. Betty Kunze of Athens, Mr. and Mrs. Morris Gierl, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Klinkhammer and children, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Nelson, Mrs. Malcolm Lamont of Abbotsford, Mr. and Mrs. John Lukowicz, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hiebsch, Mrs. Henry Maul, Sr., Mr. and Mrs. Robert Weideman, Mr. and Mrs. Orville Mengel of Owen, Mr. and Mrs. Phil Lukowicz of Sheboygan, Mr. and Mrs. Clem LaFond, Kenneth and Diane LaFond of DePere, Mr. and Mrs. Hugo Dhein, Math Kesler of Clintonville, Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Kesler of Greenwood.
