Erickson, Shirley Ann (Marriage - 23 Aug. 1958)
Miss Shirley Ann Erickson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bror Erickson of Colby, Route 2, and Galen Oscar Erdman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Erdman, were united in marriage in St. Paul’s Lutheran church in Green Grove Saturday afternoon, August 23rd, by Rev. Howard Timmerman. Mrs. Arthur Schultz sang "O Perfect Love" and "Lord at Cana’s Wedding Feast" accompanied by Miss Barbara Sommer on the organ.
Chantilly lace over satin was designed into a floor-length, fitted bodiced wedding gown, showing a square neckline and full skirt of nylon tulle. Lace inserts at the front of the skirt and lace detailing at the sides styled the gown. Her silk illusion veil fell from a tiara trimmed with seed pearls and iridescent sequins, and she carried a bouquet of yellow pompoms and white gladioli.
Miss Mary Ann Erickson was maid of honor. She wore a floor-length gown of nylon lace and net over taffeta. The strapless bodice had a stole-like jacket over a fully gathered skirt with ruffled inserts. Horse hair braid styled her tiara which matched the violet coloring of her gown, and she carried a bouquet of yellow pompoms. Similar attire in shades of gold were worn by Miss Pearl Erdman and Miss Joan Block as the bridesmaids. They carried orchid pompoms in their bouquets.
Delyle Singstock was best man, accompanied by Raymond Miller and Duane Erickson, Genoa City, as groomsmen. Gaylord Fakes and Lori Rice, cousins of the groom and bride, were ushers.
A reception was held at the bride’s home in the afternoon after which a supper was served in the church basement. A dance was held at the Kolby Pavilion. The couple attended Colby High School, and the groom served in the army for two years. He is currently engaged in farming and the bride was employed in Marshfield.
After a wedding trip to Southern Wisconsin and Illinois, the couple will make their home on a farm west of Colby, Wis.
