Neisius, Jerome John #2 (10 August 1939 - 16 September 2013)

Jerome J. Neisius, Age 74, of Thorp, passed away at Our Lady of Victory Hospital, in Stanley, on Monday, September 16, 2013, at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig Catholic Church in Thorp. Rev. A. Jakubowski officiated and burial will be held at a later date in East Thorp Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Wally Grill, Ed Nolan, Rich Jacque, Adam Hakes, Allan Hakes and Mike Hempleman. Visitation was held at Thorp Funeral Home on Thursday, September 19, 2013, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., and again at the church, on Friday, from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.

Jerome John Neisius was born on August 10, 1939, in La Crosse, WI. As a young child, his family lived in the Town of Edson until he was five years old. The family then moved to a farm in the Town of Reseburg, where he was raised and received his education, graduating from Thorp High School in 1957. After high School, Jerome worked at Thorp Flour and feed, and at the Thorp Lumber Yard. He then moved to Milwaukee where he worked as a tool and die machinist for Bucyrus-Erie from 1960 to 1977. Jerome was united in marriage to Beverly Ann Hempleman on August 13, 1960, at St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church in Thorp. They returned to Thorp in 1977 and took over the operations of the Hempelman family farm until retiring in 1999.

In his spare time, Jerome enjoyed bowling, shooting pool, rifle and bow hunting, and fishing. He was a member of the Goggle Eye Trap Club of Thorp, and the Roosevelt Rod & Gun Club of Lublin.

He is survived by three daughters: Cathy (Ed Nolan) Neisius of Medford, Janette (Richard) Jacque of Thorp, Cheryl (Wally) Grill of Mondovi; 12 grandchildren: Randy, Christie, Cindy, Danielle, Lisa, eth, jenny, Katelynn, Ryan, Allan, Adam, and Angela; 10 great0grandchildren: Joshua, Megan, Jack, Madelyn, Wes, James, Ian, Braden, Maxwell and Cailyn; six sisters: Cecilia Johnson, Odelia Wenzel, Patricia (Joseph) Razdik, Jane Siegel, Linda York and Martha Avery, all of Racine; one brother-in-law, Tom Hempleman of Thorp; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Beverly, on January 3, 2012; two daughters: Cyndee Neisius-Brown and Lori Fritz; four brothers: John Wenzel, Donald Wenzel, Kenneth Wenzel and Michael Wenzel; and one sister, Donna Clark.
