Cerven, Ronald Cyril (5 July 1937 - 23 November 2008)

Death Notice: Ronald C. Cerven, age 71, of Stanley, passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2008 at Our Lady of Victory Hospital in Stanley.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 28, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Thorp Funeral Home in Thorp with burial to follow at Riverside Cemetery in Withee. Visitation will be held on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at Thorp Funeral Home.

Thorp Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Ronald C. Cerven, age 71, of Stanley passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2008, at Our Lady of Victory Hospital in Stanley.

Funeral services were held on Friday, November 28, 2008, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. also at Thorp Funeral home with Rev. Keith Apfelbeck officiating. Burial followed at Riverside Cemetery in Withee. Visitation was held on Friday, November 28, 2008, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. also at Thorp Funeral Home.

Ronald Cyril Cerven was born on July 5, 1937, in Chicago, IL to James and Alice (Knapiak) Cerven. After moving to the rural Withee area, Ron received his education at Clark Elementary School and Owen-Withee High School. After graduating from high school, Ron worked in Chicago for a short time before returning to the Thorp area. He was united in marriage to Janice Kay Gosse on October 27, 1969 at St. Hedwig Catholic Church in Thorp. Ron and Kay owned and operated Club 73 in Thorp from 1969 to 1977. Ron also owned and operated Hilltop Grain Service in addition to farming on the family farm.

Ron is survived by his wife, Kay, of Stanley; four children: Todd (Lisa) Cerven of Owen, Melissa (Darrell) Cook of Wausau, Jason Cerven of Withee, and Laura Cerven of Eau Claire; two grandchildren: Eric and Craig Cerven; his mother, Alice Cerven of Withee; two brothers: James Cerven II of Chicago, IL, and Jerry (Marge) Cerven of Stillwater, MN; one sister, Alice (Silver) Harycki of Thorp; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by hi8s father, James Cerven, and one brother, Edward Cerven.
