Lee, Grace Swim (6 MAY 1878 - 3 FEB 1948)

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. James Irish at the Methodist Church here at 2:00 o’clock Saturday afternoon, Feb. 7 for Mrs. Grace L Swim Lee, who passed away at her home in Westby, Wis., of a heart ailment , on Feb. 3, 1948. She had reached the age of 69 years and 9 months. A funeral service was held at Westby Friday morning.

The deceased was born in Hebron, Wis., on May 6, 1878. She was united in marriage to Van Rancler J. Swim on Nov. 11, 1895, who passed away in Dec. 1941. Mrs. Swim resided in Boyd, Wis. five years in Waukesha and 37 years in Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), coming here in Jan. 1912. She was married to Rev. Harry Lee on Aug. 9, 1947 and made her home at Westby, Wis. for the past six months.

Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons, Elmer Swim of West Allis and Harlie E. Swim of Thorp; five daughters, Maud (Mrs. Jos. Yager) of Gilman, Myrtle (Mrs. Andrew Kubera), Thorp, Florence (Mrs. Walter Restall), Waukesha, Elda (Mrs. Ralph Bieglow), Stanley and Mrs. Isabelle Congemi of Waukesha; two brothers, Earl Whapples of Fort Atkinson, Wis.; one sister, Pearl (Mrs Henry Wieshoff) of Columbus, Wis.

She was laid to rest in the East Thorp Cemetery. Her grandsons served as pallbearers, Alvin Kubera, Ellery Swim, Harlie Swim, Jr., Kenny Restall, Charles Yager, and Fred Pearson.
