Darge, William F. (23 MAY 1882 - 13 FEB 1948)

William F. Darge died at his home in the Town of Reseburg (Clark Co., Wis.) on Friday morning at 2:35, Feb. 13, 1948, of Sarcoma, after an illness of two months. He spent one week before Christmas at the Victory Hospital at Stanley, Wis., and on Dec. 28 last entered the Wis. General Hospital at Madison, for treatment, returning home again on Ja. 13, 1948.

William Darge was born on May 23, 1882 at Rapidan, Blue Earth Co., Minn., and about in 1900 he moved to Thorp, Wis. with his parents and brothers and sisters. He farmed for some time, later learned the cheese making business, which was discontinued last May. On Oct. 25, 1917 he was united in marriage to Clara Doege. To this union eight children were born, who with his wife Clara, are left to mourn, two sons and six daughters, Donald of Greenwood, Billy at home, Edna (Mrs. Walter Peliwo) of Chicago, Leora (Mrs Gordon Deuel), Viola (Mrs. Walter Graham) of Thorp and Wilma, Dorothy and Elaine at home, and five grandchildren; his mother, Mrs. Anna Darge of Good Thunder, Minn.; and two brothers and two sisters, (Alma) Mrs. Henry Preuss of Mankato, Minn., (Linda) Mrs. Arnold Malzahn of Good Thunder, Minn., Louis Darge of Knowles, Wis., and Otto Darge of Solon Springs, Wis.

Funeral services were held at the Evangelical Lutheran Church at Reseburg, Feb. 15, 1948 at two p.m., Rev. I. T. Droegemueller officiating. Miss Brandt of Stanley sang two songs. Burial took place at the East Thorp Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Edwin Ramberg, Emil Welzien, John Barth, Conrad Barth, Harry Quelle and Roy Quelle.

Relatives from a distance attending the funeral were: Henry Russell, George Russell, and Mr. and Mrs. James Russell of Butternut; Louis Darge of Knowles, Wis.; Mrs. Harold Schwartzmiller of Mayville, Wis.; Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Malzahn of Good Thunder, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Otto Darge, Solon Springs, Wis.; Mr. and Mrs. Reinold Doege and family and Edwin Doege, Eau Claire, Wis.; Mr. and Mrs. Ambrose Keller and four daughters, Curtiss, Wis.; Mr. and Mrs. Harley Quelle and darn, and Mr. and Mrs. Herman Doege and sons of Withee, Wis.; Mrs. Ella Marith, Butternut, Wis.
