Ammentorp, Marian #3 (1 MAY 1948)

A very pretty wedding took place on Saturday morning, May 1, 1948 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church when Father A. M. Muckerheide united in holy matrimony, Henry Haas, son of Mr. and Mrs. Casper Haas of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), and Marian Ammentorp, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. Ammentorp of Withee, in a 9:00 o’clock ceremony.

The bride was beautifully attired in an entrained gown of white satin with long sleeves which came to a point at the wrist. Her fingertip veil edged in lace, fell from a crown of small orange blossoms. She wore a string of pearls, the groom’s gift, and carried a bouquet of white calla lilies.

Casper Haas, Jr., was best man and Miss Amy Ammentorp, sister of the bride as maid of honor, was dressed in blue taffeta with net bonnet and gloves to match. She carried a colonial bouquet of yellow and white carnations. Bridesmaids were: Mrs. R. b. Wolfram, sister of the bride, and Mrs. K. Butterfield, sister of the groom, dressed in pink and yellow gowns with colonial bouquets of blue and white and pink and white carnations.

Ushers were Roger Wolfram of Madison, and Kenneth Butterfield, Thorp, brothers-in-law of the bride and groom respectively.

The groom was attired in a brown suit.

Dinner was served immediate families of the couple at the home of the bride’s parents. The table was decorated with bouquets of snapdragons and sweet peas, and blue candles and in the center was place at three-tier wedding cake. Further festivities were continued at the Community Hall at Owen in the evening and were enjoyed by 150 guests.

The honeymoon was spent in the Smokey Mountains and the newlyweds are making their home in Thorp where the groom is employed by the Blue Moon Foods, Inc.

Out of town guests at the wedding were: Mr. and Mrs. Carl Carlson and daughters of Minneapolis; Mr. and Mrs. John Felker and family of Minneapolis; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Baures and family of Fairchild.
