Thompson, John B. (19 Jan. 1868 - 4 Nov. 1936)

A paralytic stroke was fatal to J. B. Thompson, well known business man of Abbotsford, Wisconsin, who has owned and operated the Thompson Hotel here for the past 20 years.

Mr. Thompson had been in ill health for the past several weeks but the stroke that resulted in his death came suddenly at 2:15 Wednesday afternoon and was a severe shock to the community.

The deceased was born in Shawano county, Jan. 19, 1868. He was a member of the Eagles lodge.

He is survived by his wife and two daughters, Mrs. Irene Nelson, Abbotsford and Mrs. Adeline Anderson, of Alton, Ill.

Funeral services will be held at 2 o’clock Sunday afternoon, from the Presbyterian church. The Rev. L. C. Smith will officiate.

Rites for John Thompson, who died Wednesday, at his home here, were held at 1:30 o’clock Sunday afternoon at the home and at 2 o’clock at the Presbyterian church. The Rev. L. C. Smith officiated, and internment took place in the Abbotsford cemetery.

Pallbearers were William Nagel, Thomas Gibson, Al Strebe, Harry Treat, Walter Jackson and Joseph Fleischman.

Floral tributes were in charge of members of the Royal Neighbors and the Woman’s Home Mission society.

Out of town relatives and friends who attended the funeral included Mrs. A. P. Anderson, Alton, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. Fred Cowen and daughter, Carol of Gladstone, Mich., Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Cowen, Forest Park, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. George Thompson and daughters, Mildred and Florence, Larson; Mrs. Charles Davik, Neenah; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Mayfield, Ladysmith, Mrs. Rose Brown, Stevens Point; Mrs. Jacob Thomas and Mrs. Olive Booth, Marshfield; George McGill, Milladore; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hollman, Dorchester; Mr. and Mrs. Iver Johnson, Medford; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Waldhart, Stetsonville; and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Whapples and sons, Owen.
