Kadonsky, Elizabeth E. (Kalson) (December 20, 1925 - December 22, 2008)
Elizabeth "Betty" E. Kadonsky, 83, Abbotsford passed away on Monday, December 22, 2008 at InnCare of Abbotsford, Wis.
Betty was born Elizabeth Eleanor Kalson on December 20, 1925 in Milwaukee, the daughter of Steve and Agnes (Raynovic) Kalson.
She attended school in West Allis, and later moved to central Wisconsin with her parents.
At age 18 Betty returned to Milwaukee to work and study voice at the Alhambra Theater.
She later moved to Chicago where she debuted at the DeYoung Theater in the opera "LaTraviata". While living in Chicago, Betty also worked as a Practical Pediatrics Nurse in Chicago. Then in early 1949 she returned to central Wisconsin to sing on her own radio program on WIGM radio in Medford.
After her marriage to George Kadonsky in 1949, they lived on Kadonsky family farm in the town of Holton where they raised their five children.
Betty was active in a variety of musical, church and community organizations. She served as the President of the Marathon Co. Homemakers Council and was the Director of the Marathon Co. Homemakers Choir for 15 years. She was also a 4-H leader for over 25 years, Betty composed music for the Wisconsin State Homemakers Creed and Homemakers Prayer and holds U.S. copyrights for both. In 1988 Betty received the Cherokee Center Homemaker of the Year award. She was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Abbotsford, a member of the Holton Homemakers Club and a member of the National Catholic Society of Foresters.
Betty is lovingly survived by her five children; Patti (Jerry) Brecke, Dorchester, George Kadonsky, Jr., Altoona, Bill Kadonsky, Colleyville, TX, Steve Kadonsky, NJ and Angela Crawford, CA. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren; two sisters; and four brothers. Betty was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband George who passed away in 2006.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 24, 2008 at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford, Wis. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home in Abbotsford on Wednesday. Burial services will be private with Betty’s family at a later date.
If desired, the family requests that memorials be donated to the American Heart Association in Betty’s name.
