Miller, Donald M. (31 July 1932 - 27 September 2013) With Flag

Donald M. Miller, 81, died Friday, Sept. 27, 2013, at home surrounded by his family.

He was born July 31, 1932, in Neillsville, the son of Frank and Louise (Kessler) Miller. He attended school in Neillsville. Don worked on the family farm, at an implement dealer and at a hatchery. Later he went out west, working in the wheat fields and ended up in Oregon cutting trees. Don returned to Neillsville and joined the United States Army where he achieved the rank of corporal. After returning to Neillsville, he married Caroline Moser June 4, 1955, in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Neillsville. Don and Caroline moved to Evansville, and he began working at General Motors in Janesville, retiring in 1988 after 33 years of service. After his retirement, he worked at the Evansville manor in the maintenance department for 13 years and helped a few loyal farmers. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, cutting wood and hunting with his family at his cabin in Soldiers Grove. Don’s greatest joy in life was his family. He had a wonderful sense of humor, enjoyed visiting with people and could get along with anyone.

He is survived by his loving wife Caroline of 58 years; his children, Sherrie Miller of Michigan City, IN, Debbie (Keith) Trow of Evansville, Rick (Wendy) Miller of Evansville, Sue (Mike) Felder of Huntington, IN, Jeff (Patti) Miller of Evansville; his grandchildren, Michael (Missi) Miller, Sarah Miller, Charlene Trow, Aaron (Megan) Trow, Jason Trow, Matt Miller, Amanda Miller, Janessa and Arabella Trow, Alexis and Kaylee Miller, Oliver Felder, Gabriel Bickel; sisters-in-law, Anita Miller, Shirley Miller; a brother-in-law, Frank Zank; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Jeanette Zank and Angeline Bramucker; four brothers, Clarence, Bill, Mick and Jim; and two grandsons, Gary Miller and Eric Miller.

Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, at the Ward-Hurtley Funeral Home, Evansville, with Reverend Kevin Dooley of St. Paul’s Catholic Church officiating, with a military service following provided by VFW Post 6905 Evansville. A visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will be held later in Magnolia East Cemetery Township.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Robinson, all the girls in the chemo department and the TCC staff at the Mercy/Michael Berry Complex. We are also grateful to AGrace Hospice for the loving care they provided for Don.
