Wicker, George H. (24 June 1876 - 20 Feb. 1959)

George H. Wicker died at his home in Colby Friday, Feb. 20, at the age of 80 years. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Methodist church in Colby, Wis., Rev. David A. Passet officiating, and internment was made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery. Pall bearers were Ray Marsh, Delmer Wicker, Kenneth Wicker, Harold Wicker, Elmer Wicker, Gerald Jacobson, all nephews.

Mr. Wicker was born on a farm in the town of Hull on June 24, 1876, and bought the farm from his mother in 1903 and operated the farm until 1946 when he moved to the city of Colby with his wife and son. He married Fannie Hart on June 14, 1905.

Surviving are his wife; one son, Gilbert H. Wicker of Colby, a brother, Tom Wicker of Colby, and a sister, Mrs. George Castner of Marshfield.

Mr. Wicker was well known, especially by older people of the community, as a man of industrious habits, honest in all his dealings, who always endeavored to perform his duties to the best of his ability, and, being of a congenial disposition, made many friends.

Out of town relatives and friends here for the rites were Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Wicker and Doris Wicker of Lac du Flambeau, Irving Marsh of Eagle River, Bernice Patterson and Delmer Wicker of Medford, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Jacobson, and Carol Wicker of Marshfield, Mr. and Mrs. Orville Wickman of Loyal, Evelyn Wicker of Wisconsin Rapids, and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Wicker of Stratford.
