Bartz, Lawrence (20 Sept. 1920 - 2 Jan. 2009)

Laurence Bartz, 88, of Neillsville died Friday, Jan. 2, 2009, at Memorial Health and Rehabilitation Center, Neillsville.

A memorial service for Laurence will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, 2009, at the Zion Lutheran Missouri Synod Church in Granton. Pastor John Trewyn will officiate. Interment will be in Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the service Thursday at the church.

Laurence Elmer Bartz was born Sept. 20, 1920, in the town of York, to Alfred and Bertha (Albrecht) Bartz. He married Irene Schmidt June 20, 1953. The couple moved to Marinette, where he worked as a welder before retiring in Neillsville.

He is survived by his wife, Irene; two sons, Gary (Bonnie) Bartz of Granton and Ken (Mary) Bartz of Anchorage, Alaska; three daughters, Rene (Tom) Poziombke of Anchorage, Janet Grant of Marshfield and Debbie (Dan) Palladino of Orlando, Fla.; 13 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and a sister, Kathy (Jim) Voigt of Marshfield.
