Belter, Herman R. (31 July 1902 - 29 December 1970)

Funeral services for Herman Robert Belter, 68, of Rt. 1 Granton, who died December 29, will be held Saturday at 3 p. m. from the Georgas Funeral home. The body of Mr. Belter will lie in state from New Year’s Day at 1 p.m. until 10 p.m. The Rev. Melvin Nickel of the United Methodist Church will officiate with burial to be made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

Herman Belter was born July 31, 1902, in the Town of Weston, the son of Julius and Anna (Hoffman) Belter. He was educated in area schools and did various types of work here before going to the state of Washington where he worked in logging camps. In 1938 he returned to Wisconsin and operated the family farm until 1947. He later farmed in the Granton and Chili area, retiring in 1967.

Mr. Belter is survived by a brother, Gust Belter of Eau Claire (presently in Florida); and by four sisters, Mrs. John (Emma) Roehl and Mrs. Walter (Elsie) Doering, both of Clinton, Mrs. Olney (Helen) Quale of Madison, and Mrs. Ruth Ebert of Neillsville.

Funeral services for Herman R. Belter, 68, of Rt. 1 Granton, who died December 29, 1970, were held Saturday, January 2, 1971, at 3 p.m. from the Georgas Funeral Home in Neillsville. The Rev. Melvin Nickel of the United Methodist Church officiated, with burial made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

Pallbearers were: Herbert Henning, Ted Linster, Julius and Herman Hagedorn and Alvin and (missing names). Kendall Smith sang “I Would Not Live Away” and “Asleep in Jesus,” accompanied by Mrs. Jess W. Scott.

People attending the services from out of town included the following: Mr. and Mrs. Walter Doering, Clinton; Mr. and Mrs. Olney Quale and son, Madison; Emma Henning Jensen, and Mr. and Mrs. John D. Kollas, Eau Claire; Mr. and Mrs. Harley Loos, Frank Bushon, and Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Schmitz all of Chili; Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Sternitzky, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Jahr, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Sternitzky, and Willard Becherer, all of Granton.
