Meihack, Frank August (21 May 1888 - 25 December 1970)

Two Neillsville brothers, born seventeen months apart, died within twelve hours of one another on Christmas Day and were buried in joint services from St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church on Monday, December 28, at 1:30 p.m. Both Frank August Meihack, 82, and George Frederick Meihack, 81, sons of Edward and Caroline (Hoeftman) Meihack, were born and educated in the Town of Weston and lied their entire lives in the Neillsville area.

Frank August Meihack, a resident of Memorial Home, was born May 21, 1888. He operated the home farm until 1928 when he moved with his parents to Neillsville. He worked after that for the late Otto Roessler for over 20 years. Mr. Meihack, who never married, entered Memorial Home in February of 1968. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church at Globe.

The Meihack brothers are survived by three sisters, Mrs. Ben (Martha) Dux and Mrs. Frank (Minnie) Thoma, both of Neillsville, and Mrs. Erna Zick of Clinton, and by one brother, Alvin Meihack, also of Neillsville.

Pallbearers for Frank Meihack were Carl Thoma, George Thoma, Donald Zick, Herbert Henchen, Francis Haines and Gordon Thoma. Interment was in the North Pine Valley Cemetery with the Rev. Robert Bitter officiating.

Soloist at the joint services was Mrs. Harold Mayer, who sang “Asleep in Jesus” and “The Lord is My Shepherd.” She was accompanied by Victor Lehmann. The Georgas Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Those attending the services from out-of-town included Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Meihack and family and Otto Schenk of New Ulm, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Vern Meihack and Mr. and Mrs. Anton Meihack of Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. Louie Nemitz and Mr. and Mrs. James Nemitz and family of New Auburn; Mr. and Mrs. Donald Zick and family of Durand, Ill.; Mrs. Erna Zick and Miss Hazel Zick of Clinton; and Mrs. Elsie Wells, Mrs. Alfred Zillmer, Mrs. Erna Lemke and Sam Grap, all of Greenwood.
