Kocherer, Josephine (30 AUG 1863 - 16 FEB 1949)

Mrs. Josephine Kocherer was a former resident of the Town of Worden (Clark Co., Wis.) for many years. She had made her home for several years with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. George Haas of Thorp. She passed away of old age infirmities on Wednesday evening, Feb. 16, 1949 at the age of 84 years, 5 months and 17 days.

Josephine Hoffman was born in Calumet Co., St. Anne, Wis., Aug. 30, 1863. She was married there to Frank Kocherer and immediately moved to their farm in the Town of Worden. To this union 11 children were born, three of whom passed away in infancy. Her husband, two daughters, Edith and Veronica, and one son, Edward, preceded her in death.

She is survived by two sons, John of Stanley, and Joseph of Marshfield, and three daughters, (Mary) Mrs. George Haas, (Anna) Mrs. Joseph Dulek of Thorp, and (Alvina) Mrs. George Schmidt of Elk Mound; one sister, Mrs. Catherine Rietz of Fredonia; 28 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

She was a member of the Christian Mothers Society for many years.

The Requiem Mass was offered by Rev. A.M. Muckerheide at St. Bernard’s Church at 9:30 Saturday morning, Feb. 19. Interment took place in St. Bernard Cemetery with the following grandsons serving as pallbearers: Bernard and Leonard Haas, Bernard and Leo Dulek, Francis C. Kocherer and Francis Kocherer.
