Jarosz, John H. (17 January 1923 - 28 November 2008)

John H. Jarosz, age 85, of Schofield, died on Friday, November 28, 2008, at St. Clare’s Hospital, Weston.

He was born on January 17, 1923, in Thorp, WI, son of the late Anton and Helen (Rogalski) Jarosz. On October 4, 1947, he married Agnes Neiman at the former St. Hedwig’s Church in Thorp. In 1951, they moved to Wausau where he was in business operating the "John’s" Pure Oil service station on Third Street for 14 years. In 1971, he began working at Wausau Employers Insurance Company until he retired in 1988.

For over 25 years, he was an usher at the former St. James Catholic Church, now renamed Church of the Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ. John was an honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus George J. Schreiner Council #1069, Wausau.

Survivors include his wife, Agnes, of Schofield; three children: Diane (Michael) Wisneski of Lomira, WI, Jerry (Lois) Jarosz of Wausau, and Gary (Deb) Jarosz of Rothschild; three granddaughters: Jennifer (Mike) Stam of Horicon, WI, Joanna (Shawn) Vander Schaaf of Mayville, WI, and Julia (David) O’Laughlin of Fond du Lac, WI; one grandson, Tyler Jarosz of Belgrade, MT; one step-grandson, Dan Bentz of Chicago, IL; ten great-grandchildren; Natalie, Emilie, Stephanie and Rocky Stam, Madeline, Margaret, Jacob and Marissa Vander Schaaf, and Dylan and Dawson O’Laughlin; three sisters: Bernice Lakomy of Chicago, IL, Louise Skora of Wauconda, IL, and Julie (George) Pesek of Brookfield, IL; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.

The funeral Mass was held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, December 3, 2008, at St. Therese Catholic Church, 113 Kort Street Rothschild. Rev. Janusz Kowalski officiated. Entombment was at Restlawn Memorial Park. Visitation was held from 4:00 -7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 2, 2008, at Brainard Funeral Home, 522 Adams Street, Wausau, and again from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Wednesday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Therese Catholic Church, Rothschild.
