Plath, Ernestine (27 May 1862 - 17 July 1948)

Mrs. Ernestine Plath 86, passed away at 1:30 P. M. Saturday at the home of her son William, here in Spencer. Mrs. Plath had been in poor health for some time.

Funeral services were held at 1:45 Tuesday afternoon at the Swarthout Funeral Home and at 2 o'clock at the Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. A. C. Stapel officiating. Burial was made in the West Spencer cemetery.

Mrs. Plath, nee Varney, was born May 27, 1862 in Germany, and came to this country when a small child. She was married to Reinhold Plath here in Spencer on March 28, 1886.

The family lived on a farm near Spencer until 27 years ago when they moved to the village, Mr. Plath passed away October 3, 1923 and for the past six years Mrs. Plath lived with her son.

She was an honorary member of the Lutheran Ladies Aid Society.

Surviving are four children, Mrs. Albert (Emma) Wagner, Bensenville,Ill., William Plath, Spencer; Herman Plath, Marshfield; and Mrs. Alex (Mildred) Pudroski, Stevens Point; and 11 grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Sherwood Plath, Wm. Plath Jr., Norbert Plath, Vernon Plath, Darwin Pudroski and Chester Adams.

Those in charge of flowers were Beverly and Arlene Youmans, Patsy and Eva Kresselt, Helen Fisher, Louise Lee, Gerry Pudroski and Darlene Molle.
