Gosse, Merle G. (1 Apr. 1931 - 22 Jan. 2009)

Merle "Squirrely" G. Gosse, 77, of Medford, died Thursday, Jan. 22, 2009, at his residence.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 26, 2009, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford, where full military honors will be performed by the Medford Area Military Honors Team. Interment will be in Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery, Medford.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 25 at Hemer Funeral Home, Medford, where there will be a 7:30 p.m. prayer service, and also from 9 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

He was born April 1, 1931, in Abbotsford, to Fred and Ina (Johnson) Gosse. He attended Abbotsford Area Schools, and served in the U.S. Air Force from Sept. 1949 to Dec. 1952 with Honorable Discharge. He was a Jet Fighter Mechanic during the Korean War being stationed in Texas. He attained the rank of Staff Sergeant.

He married Carol J. Loertscher on Dec. 1, 1956, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford.

He is survived by his wife, Carol; son, Steven (Nancy) Gosse of Withee and daughter, Sheila Gosse of Medford; brothers: Fred Gosse of Pittsville, Leon Gosse of Brookfield and Jack (Kay) Gosse of Milwaukee; sisters: Darlene White and Dona Decker, both of Florida.
