HATCH -- In the town of Pine Valley, December 25, 1881, Lucina Wendall Hatch, wife of E. R. Hatch, after a long and painful illness, aged 51 years, 9 months, and 5 days.

The deceased has been an invalid requiring constant care and attention for the past five months, during which time she bore her sufferings with Christian resignation. She was a lady of unusual worth, and her uniform kindness to all, being ever ready to extend a helping hand to the needy or distressed, won for her the friendship and love of all. She leaves a devoted husband and several children to mourn her loss, while the entire community feels that in her death they have been deprived of a true and faithful friend. Her funeral took place from the M. E. Church Tuesday, and was largely attended by those who mourn with the loved ones whose home has been made desolate. _______
