Johnson, James J. "Jimmy" (19 August 1928 - 26 January 2009)

James J. "Jimmy" Johnson, 80, of Black River Falls, and formerly of Alma Center, Melrose and Neillsville, passed away Monday, Jan. 26, 2009, at the Family Heritage Home in Black River Falls.

He was born Aug. 19, 1928, to Benny and Helen (Dettinger) Johnson in the Town of Franklin, Jackson County.

James married Delila Kyser April 10, 1948, in Merrillan.

He farmed in the Melrose and Alma Center area for many years.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting and traveling with his wife.

Among his survivors are his wife of 60 years, Delila; seven children, Margaret (David) Jerome of Sparta, James (Lori) Johnson of Hixton, Julia (Jewell) Hagen, of Alma Center, John (Belinda) Johnson of Aurora, NE, Jerry (Sheryl) Johnson of Roberts, Jacob (Anita) Johnson of Black River Falls and Jane (Al) Bohac of Alma Center; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three sisters, Margaret Carlson of Aberdeen, WA, Mary (Gordon) Nordby of Blair and Donna (Kenneth) Greeno of Columbia Heights, MN; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Leo Johnson; and a sister, Helen "Lorraine" Wortman.

A memorial celebration of life will be held Saturday, Jan. 31, 2009, from noon to 4 p.m. at the VFW, located on Main Street in Alma Center.

Because of family allergies, the family requests that floral arrangements not be sent.
