Geiger, Elizabeth (22 June 1925 - 1 Feb. 2009)

Elizabeth Geiger, 83, of Dorchester, Wisconsin died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2009, at Golden Living Center- Continental Manor, Abbotsford, Wis.

Arrangements are pending with Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home, Abbotsford, Wis.

COLBY -- Elizabeth Jane Geiger, 83, of Colby, passed away Sunday, Feb. 1, 2009, at the Golden Living Center Continental Manor in Abbotsford where she had resided since July 25, 2001.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 6, 2009, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Colby, Wis. The Rev. Anandran Rajendran will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in the town of Colby, Wis.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, 2009, at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford and Friday at the church in Colby from 10 a.m. until time of services. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Elizabeth was born June 22, 1925, in Hiles, to John and Margaret (Fairfield) Pollack. She attended a rural country school near Hiles, until the eighth grade. She married Bernard H. Geiger on May 5, 1942, at St. Louis Catholic Church in Dorchester, Wis. He passed away April 10, 1996. After her marriage to Bernie they farmed in the town of Hull until their retirement.

Elizabeth was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and of an area square dance club. Her children can attest to the wonderful foods and desserts and breads she cooked and baked. She canned everything from vegetables from the garden to meats from the farm. In her spare time, Elizabeth enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles.

Elizabeth is lovingly survived by her children, Shirley (Allen) Baehr of Sun Prairie, Gerald Geiger of Kiel, Robert (Jane) Geiger of Medford, Jean (Ken) Bores of Marshfield, Ronald (Barbara) Geiger of Curtiss, Elaine (Gary) Blasel of Dorchester, and Dennis Geiger of Colby, Wis. She is further survived by 43 grandchildren, 80 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; two sisters, Alice Kittl of Stratford and Rose Ludwig of Lavalle; one brother, Kenneth (Bernadine) Pollack of Colby; and by many other relatives and friends.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son in infancy; and two grandsons, Ryan and Todd.
