Bahr, Michael Glen (12 July 1944 - 29 January 2009) With Flag

Michael Glen Bahr, 64, Merrillan, died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2009, of an apparent heart attack.

He was born July 12, 1944, in Superior, to Gordon and Harriet (Sacia) Bahr and graduated from La Crosse Central High School in 1962. He attended University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and married Ellen (Pratt) Rudolph. The couple later divorced. After two years of active duty in the U. S. Navy, he graduated from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. He married Janet (Miller) Bahr and was later divorced. He taught for several years in Illinois. From an early age Mike had a deep interest in Native American cultures and customs and pursued their ways of life in his latter years.

Survivors include three children, Paul (DeAnn) Bahr of Atlanta, GA, Mark Bahr of Dallas, TX, and Amanda (Fermin) Oranday of Donna, TX; three granddaughters, Taylor, Mackenzie, and Addison Bahr; two grandsons, Jacob and Jonah Oranday; two brothers, Thomas (Judy) of Las Cruces, NM, and Gerald (Jane) of Boyceville; and a sister, Ellen (Ken) Cady of La Crosse.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Frederick.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2009, at 11 a.m. at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville. Military Honors will be accorded by the Neillsville Veteran’s Council
