Esselman, Virgil A. (2 FEB 1966 - 14 OCT 2013)

Virgil A. Esselman, 47, Loyal, passed away on Monday, Oct. 14, 2013, at Ministry Saint Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., on Friday, Oct. 18, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Loyal. Rev. Steve Brice officiated. Burial followed in St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jay Stump, Jim Ditter, Todd Schultz, Steve Cove, Paul Esselman, Bill Esselman, Dave Esselman and Mike Leader.

Virgil Alan Esselman was born on Feb. 2, 1966, in Marshfield, the son of Lawrence and Julia (nee Gessert) Esselman. He was raised on the family farm southwest of Loyal, and received his education in the Loyal School District, graduating from Loyal High School in 1984. Virgil graduated from Indianhead Technical College in Rice Lake with a degree in finance. He then went to work at USA Financial Service in River Falls. He returned to Loyal and worked with his father on the home farm. Virgil also worked at Keith Stump Auction Service in Loyal for 17 years, and delivered flowers for Friends Flowers & Gifts in Greenwood. He was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, the Loyal FFA Alumni, the Clark County Holstein Breeders Association, was a 4-H dairy leader, a former member of the Loyal Jaycees, and helped for many years with the dairy show at the Clark County Fair. Virgil loved his cows and show cattle. Maplehusrt-Lane Mara was his once-in-a-lifetime champion heifer and cow. He especially enjoyed spreading his love of showing dairy cattle to the youth of Clark County, and recently started showing with his nieces, Katlyn and Anna. He had special talent for interior decorating and floral design. He also loved being with family and friends during deer hunting on the home farm.

He will be dearly missed by his parents, Lawrence and Julia Esselman, Loyal; two sisters, Nancy (John) Lindgren, Medford, and Wendy (Chris) Lindner, Loyal; one brother, Ronald (Terri) Esselman, Greenwood; nine nieces and nephews, Melinda, Phyllis, Jessica and Ben Lindgren, Rachel and Elizabeth Esselman, and Katlyn, Anna and Jake Lindner; and aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.
