Ahrens, Rev. Daniel L. (16 SEP 1935 - 1 OCT 2013)

The Reverend Daniel L. Ahrens, 78, passed away Tuesday, October 1, 2013, in Appleton.

Dan was born on September 16, 1935, in Chicago, son of the late William and Alice (Krieger) Ahrens. On June 21, 1958, he married Marilyn Ruth Goers, they cherished their 55 years of marriage together. They especially enjoyed the times spent with their children and grandchildren on Connor Lake in Winter. He was a Missouri Synod Lutheran Minister for over 45 years, serving parishes in Laona, Birnamwood, Marshfield and Abbotsford, as well as Forest Park and Chicago, Ill. He continued his ministry during his retirement in Northern Wisconsin.

Dan is survived by his wife, Marilyn; their children, Laura (Jack) O'Connell, Chicago, Timothy (Pamela) Ahrens, Sheboygan Falls, Lisa (Jon) Karll, Appleton and Matthew Ahrens, San Carlos, CA. He is further survived by ten grandchildren, Patrick (Erin), Megan, Bethany, Joshua, Kathleen, Bo, Kari, Samuel, Bradley and Rachel; one great granddaughter, Reagan; and a brother, Lee (Joan) Ahrens.

Funeral services for Daniel will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 5, 2013, at Faith Lutheran Church, 601 E Glendale Ave, Appleton. Friends and family may call at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Valley Funeral Home, Appleton is assisting the family with arrangements.
