Holt, William A. (2 July 1880 - 7 November 1950)

William A. Holt of the Town of Grant died at his home at 11:20 a.m. on Saturday.

Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, November 7, 1950, at 1:45 at the Georgas Funeral Home and at two o’clock at the Methodist Church with Rev. Virgil Nulton officiating. Interment was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

Hr. Holt was born in Pierce County on July 2, 1880, to Albert and Carrie Foster Holt. He spent his entire life in Clark County, coming to the Town of Weston with his parents when he was three years old. He received his education in the rural schools. As a young man he was employed in logging camps and worked as a carpenter. On April 2, 1904, he was married to Ethel Calvin at Greenwood. They lived at Athens a short time before returning to farming in Clark County. They lived on their present farm since 1931. Mr. Holt was school clerk in the Forman School for several years and he was a member of the Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, his aged mother, Mrs. Carrie Holt of Greenwood, and three sons, Albert Holt of Neillsville, Alfred Holt of Marshfield, and Merton Holt of Granton; also thirteen grandchildren, two brothers, Clarence and Earl holt, of Greenwood, and three sisters, Mrs. Jennie Sischo, Mrs. Marion Begley of Neillsville, and Mrs. William (Vera) Joyce of Greenwood.

He was preceded in death by his father, a brother, and a son who died in infancy.
