Armitage, Robert Bruce (17 April 1890 - 9 November 1950)

Robert Bruce Armitage, age 60, of the Town of Weston, died at the local hospital on Thursday evening at 11:15 after an illness of two weeks.

Funeral services were conducted on Monday, November 13, at 1:30 p.m. from the Georgas Funeral Home and at 2:15 p.m. from the Christie Methodist Church with Rev. Virgil Nulton officiating. Interment was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

Mr. Armitage was born in the Town of Weston on April 17, 1890, to Susana Timmerson and Willis K. Armitage on the farm where he last lived. He was a member of the York Grange No. 749, a member of the Methodist Church of Christie, assessor of the Town of Weston for several years and also served on the school board of the Forman School for several years.

He was married to Eleanor N. Schummel at Neillsville on September 4, 1912. He is survived by his wife, two children, Dale Armitage of Neillsville, R4, and Mrs. Clarence (Dorothy) Ratsch of Greenwood, and five grandchildren. A sister died in infancy and one brother, Willis J., preceded him in death.

Pallbearers were members of York Grange: Elmer Anderson, Glen Lavey, Ray Mortimer, Paul Frishman, Otto Hollenbach and David Anderson.

Floral offerings were in charge of ladies of the Grange: Mesdames Elmer Anderson, David Anderson, Glen Lavey, Ray Mortimer, Paul Frishman and Otto Hollenbach.

Two selections were sung by Mrs. Fred Buchholz, Mrs. George Schafer, Henry Harder and Rev. Virgil Nulton, accompanied by Mrs. Nulton at the organ.

Grave side services were in charge of the Grange with Rollie Benedict as worthy master and Edna Lehman as chaplain.

Persons from out of town attending the rites were Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Ratsch and daughter of Greenwood, Mr. and Mrs. George Ampe of Marshfield, Mr. and Mrs. Asa Darling of Milwaukee, Mr. and Mrs. Daryl Wittke of Black River Falls, Mr. and Mrs. George Scherer of Greenwood, Flora Blanshan, Mrs. Leonora Hillegas, Eleanor Tubbs, George Tubbs, Frank Tubbs and Herbert Tubbs, all of Seymour, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Tremaine, Hugh, Ruby and Earl Tremaine, all of Oconomowoc.
