Maes, Michael "Mike" J. (20 JUN 1949 - 12 OCT 2013)

Former Rib Lake area resident Michael "Mike" J. Maes, 64, Wausau, died on Saturday, Oct. 12 at his home.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 16 at 11 a.m. at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Rib Lake, with Father Otto Bucher officiating. Interment will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Rib Lake, Pallbearers are Scott Swiantek, Tony Nichols, Russ Pfefferle, Tom Granno and Dan, Jim and Bill Maes.

Visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday, Oct. 15 from 4 to 7 p.m., with a 6:45 p.m. prayer service, and on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.

Hemer Funeral Homes of Medford and Rib Lake assisted the family with arrangements.

PRINCIPAL EVENTS IN LIFE:
After high school Mike worked on the loading docks at Neuendorf Transportation in Chicago for a couple of years. He then was a farm hand at Magnuson’s Mink Ranch in Ogema for 4 years. Mike was a Supervisor at Great Northern Cabinetry in Rib Lake for 10 years and then worked as a window assembler at Weathershield in Medford until his retirement in 2008. Mike was a volunteer fighter for the Rib Lake Fire Department for numerous years and also served on the Rib Lake Village Board for two terms. He enjoyed watching TV.
