Donald Ogden of the town of Worden, Clark county, age 39, father of seven young children, is being held without charge in the Clark county jail in Neillsville while his eldest child, Audrey, eight years of age, is receiving treatment in the Marshfield, Wisconsin Hospital for a skull fracture believed to have been inflicted by a hammer.
Ogden will face a preliminary hearing February 24 on a charge of assault "by conduct regardless of human life." In default of bail, fixed at $5,000, Ogden is being held in the county jail pending the hearing. He admitted the beating.
Mrs. Ogden told authorities that her husband came out of a bedroom in their home about 5 o’clock Monday afternoon and laid a hammer on the table. When she entered the bedroom she found Audrey’s head bleeding. She put the injured girl in a car and drove to Stanley Memorial Hospital, accompanied by her other six children.
