Cowles, Hattie Ann (27 December 1872 - 2 January 1951)

Funeral services for Mrs. Hattie Cowles, 78, were held on Thursday, January 4, from the South Byron Methodist Church, with burial in the Avoca Cemetery at Oakfield. She died on Tuesday at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Steiner, Loyal.

Mrs. Cowles, the former Hattie Ann McLean, was born December 27, 1872, in Kansas and was married December 27, 1895, to Edward M. Cowles. She lived at South Byron until her marriage. After their marriage the couple lived in Dodge County until 1905, when they moved back to South Byron. For the past nine years she made her home with the Steiner’s.

Surviving are the following children: Mrs. J. R. (Alice) Steiner of Loyal, Alfred Cowles of Loyal, 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
