Weideman, Mr./Mrs. August (45th Anniv. - 16 Nov. 1940)

Mr. and Mrs. August Weideman were the honor guests at an old fashioned charivari given them at their home, Saturday evening, in honor of their 45th wedding anniversary. During the evening pinochle and bunco were played with prizes for those having high, second and low scores.

At midnight a delicious lunch was served at a table decorated with white and yellow chrysanthemums and a large wedding cake in the center.

Mr. and Mrs. Weideman were presented with a large linen table cloth by their children, a purse of money, and many other gifts from friends.

Guests present were: Miss Frieda Weideman, Milwaukee; Miss Ann Weideman and Harold Patswald, Eau Claire; Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Barker, Park Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Becherer, son, Willard, Colby; Mr. and Mrs. Albin Lindberg, daughter Beverly Jean, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Weideman, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Hotzhausen, daughter, Shirley, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Dietz, Mr. and Mrs. Seth Barker, Mr. and Mrs. William Pupp and children, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Mueller and daughter, Vera, and Otto Lindberg, all of Abbotsford, Wis.

Mr. and Mrs. Weideman have lived in this community for many years. Mrs. Weideman was born, Bertha Walter, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Walter, on the farm on which she still lives. Mr. Weideman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ferdinand Weideman, was born in Sheboygan, September 5, 1869. On Nov. 5, 1886 he came here and engaged in farming.

On November 17, 1895 Mr. and Mrs. Weideman were united in marriage at the home of her parents. The Rev. Mr. Steffins of the Lutheran church of Dorchester performed the ceremony. Mr. and Mrs. Weideman made their home on that farm and have lived there ever since.

Six children were born to them, five of whom are living, one child died of diphtheria at the age of 7. Their children are: Mrs. Albin Lindberg, Edwin and Henry of Abbotsford; Miss Frieda, Milwaukee and Miss Ann, Eau Claire. There are also two grandchildren.
