Hemp, Anton (11 February 1877 - 30 January 1951)

Anton (Tony) Hemp, age 73, died on Tuesday evening at 9 p.m. at the Neillsville Hospital. He was ill since Monday night. Funeral arrangements are not definite. Bergemann Funeral Home is in charge of the services.

Tony Hemp was born on February 11, 1877, on the Hemp home farm at Globe. He was a life long resident of Clark County. He attended Fairview school and was baptized and confirmed at the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Neillsville. He operated his own farm near Globe until about three years ago, when he came to Neillsville to live at the old folk’s home. He was unmarried.

Surviving are two brothers, Albert of Neillsville, and Frank of Wisconsin Rapids; and a sister, Mrs. Gust Grap of Milwaukee; Many nieces and nephews also survive, including Mrs. Fred Stelloh of Neillsville.

Funeral services were conducted on Friday at the Bergemann Funeral Home for Anton Hemp, who died at the local hospital on Tuesday. Death was due to old age complications.

Interment was made in the in the Neillsville City Cemetery with Rev. R. Banks Blocher, officiating. Pallbearers were: Herman Hemp, Leo Hemp, Ted Mitte, Harvey Grap, Elmer Adams and Ronald Gluch.

Persons from out of town attending the rites included Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hemp of Wisconsin Rapids; Mrs. Robert Lemke of Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Dan Gluch of Granton; Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Grap of Greenwood and Ronald Gluch of Granton.
