Abbotsford, Wis. - June 29, 1961
The Abbotsford Woman’s Club met at the village hall with Mrs. Lawrence Neitzel as hostess. Prize winners were Mrs. Vane Gokey, high; Mrs. Fred Neidhold, second; Mrs. E. C. Pascoe, low.
Mrs. Arthur Giese left for Seattle, Wash., where she attended the funeral of her stepmother, Mrs. Otto Dupke, of Mt. Terrace, Wash.
Mrs. Ed Behnke and daughter, Susan, of Waupaca, visited several days at the home of her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Vern Steffen. Mr. Behnke joined them Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Dean Rein of Wausau and Mr. and Mrs. Allen Brehm of Griffith, Ind., the former Birdel Berry, and children were recent guests at the Frank Bernitt home.
Tom Keedy spent several days at Hales Corners with his uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Keuck, and family.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Steffen and family of Milwaukee visited several days with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Vern Steffen.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bernitt and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Jacobi attended the ordination of Rev. Rudolph Schilback at St. Andrew’s Lutheran church at Sheboygan. He is a relative of the Jacobis.
Guss Feld of Beaver Dam spent several weeks at the home of Mr. and Mrs. William Schneider.
Eighty-six pints of blood were donated at the bloodmobile at the Abbotsford High School - 29 short of the quota of 115 pints. The attending physician was Dr. E. D. Pfefferkorn of Colby, Wis. Nurses aiding the bloodmobile staff nurses were Mrs. Orville Laabs of Curtiss, Mrs. Walter Danielson of Abbotsford, Mrs. Ervin Meyer and Mrs. Herbert Steinwand of Colby, Wis.
Cadet Daniel J. Klinkhammer, age 21, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Klinkhammer of Abbotsford, is receiving six weeks of training at the Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) summer camp at Fort Riley, Kan. The training is scheduled to be concluded July 28. During this training, he is receiving practical experience and instruction in tactical, technical and administrative subjects with special emphasis placed on the duties of a second lieutenant in an infantry unit. Cadet Klinkhammer is a 1958 graduate of Abbotsford High School and a student at the University of Wisconsin in Madison.
WAC Reserve Sgt. Ruth C. Leichtnam, daughter of Albert P. Leichtnam of Abbotsford, is receiving two weeks of annual active duty training at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Ind. The training is scheduled to be concluded July 9. Sergeant Leichtnam is regularly assigned as a computer in the 376th Finance Disbursing Section, an Army Reserve unit in Wausau, Wis. She is a graduate of Abbotsford High School and is employed by Roto-graphic Company in Schofield.
