Thirza Matilde Eggleston was born in the Milwaukee area in 1847. Her father was Jefferson Eg(g)elston and her mother was Thirza Hoag. The family moved to Kewaskum, Wisconsin around the year 1866.
Thirza married Josiah Snyder in the town of Osceola, Fond du Lac County on Christmas Day in 1869. They moved to Clark County between 1869-1871. Their first two daughters, Mina and Myrta, were born in 1871 and 1873. Maybel Snyder, the third daughter was born on the 9th of May in 1878. According to a family Bible, Josiah Synder died on the 18th of Sept. in 1877 but it is not known where or how.
Thirza then married James McKinn on July 2, 1881. Maggie McKinn, their daughter, was born on June 13, 1882. Thirza’s second husband, James McKinn died on the 2nd of April sometime between the years 1882 and 1886.
Thirza then married Silas Delano on the 27th of July 1886. Their child, Maude Delano was born on May 2, 1919. There were no other children and sometime after this, Thirza Eggleston Delano died.
Thirza's birth mother, Thirza (nee Hoag) Eggleston, must have died before the family moved to Kewaskum because Thomas Jefferson Eggleston married again to Rachel Dunton. His first wife must have died before they left New England because Rachel Foote is the mother of Mary Elizabeth Eggleston, my great grandmother and also another daughter of Jefferson Eggleston.
Jefferson Eggleston lived in Clark County from about 1872 until his death in 1887. He lived with Thirza and her three children. No record of his death has yet been found, but he was listed in the 1880 U.S. Federal Census in York Township, Clark County, Wisconsin.
