De Vore, Doris A. (28 NOV 1944)

Doris Aileen De Vore, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter De Vore, of Dawson, N. D., exchanged wedding vows with Joseph J. Hagens, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Hagens, at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 28.

The wedding was solemnized by nuptial high mass by the Rev. Albert P. Roemer, in St. John’s Catholic church in Marshfield, before an altar decorated with baskets of Autumn flowers.

The bride’s gown was of white satin, lace trimmed, princess style, fitted bodice, lace inserts, and train. Her fingertip lace-edged veil was caught to a seed pearl crown. She carried two green orchids on her prayer book, and her jewelry was pearls, a gift of the groom.

The bride’s sister, Miss Helen De Vore, of Dawson, was maid of honor, wore a heaven blue formal with fitted bodice and full sheer skirt. Her jewelry, pearls, was a gift of the bride. She carried a colonial bouquet of white and yellow mums.

The groom chose for his best man, his brother, Lawrence Hagens, of Loyal. Donald and Harry Smith of Loyal, cousins of the bride, served as ushers.

Dinner was served at the Hotel Charles in Marshfield to 20 relatives and friends. The table decorations were the wedding cake and autumn flowers.

In the afternoon and evening a wedding reception was given at the home of the groom’s parents in Loyal, followed by a dance at the Eagles hall in Marshfield.

The bride is a graduate of the Dawson high school, class of 1938. She had one year of college at Valley City (N.D.) Normal. In 1942 she graduated as a registered nurse from the Bismarck (N. D.) Evangelical hospital. Following the completion of her nurse’s course, she was employed at Saint Joseph’s hospital in Marshfield for eight months. She then went to Freemont, Nebr., where she was employed at the Dodge County hospital, returning last December to St. Joseph’s hospital.

The groom is engaged in farming, and the young couple will be at home to their friends on Loyal route one.

Among those who attended the wedding in Marshfield were Mrs. Lorena Czecholinski of Milwaukee, Mr. and Mrs. Norbert Hagens of Beaver Dam, Mrs. W. E. De Vore and daughters, Helen and Maxine, of Dawson, N. D., and Mr. and Mrs. David Smith and family of Loyal.

The Loyal Tribune extends to the young couple its wishes for happiness.
