Kolnhoefer, John Alfred (17 July 1918 - 11 Feb. 2002)

GREENWOOD - John A. Kolnhoefer, age 83, of Greenwood, passed away at the Clark County Health Care Center on Monday, Feb. 11, 2002, at 9:30 p.m., where he had resided since April of 2000.

A celebration of John’s life will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, 2002, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Father Joseph Follmar will officiate. Inurnment will take place in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery at a later date. Honorary pallbearers will be John’s nieces and nephews.

John’s family will receive relatives and friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the church.

Cuddie Funeral Home of Greenwood is assisting the family with the arrangements.

John Alfred Kolnhoefer was born on July 17, 1918, in Greenwood to Joseph and Margaret (Shober) Kolnhoefer. He attended St. Mary’s Parochial School and then farmed in the Greenwood area. He married Sophie Kowalski in Medford on Aug. 19, 1944.

The couple lived in Greenwood, Tunnel City and then moved to Bell Flower, Calif. They later lived in Albany, Ore., where John worked as a maintenance supervisor for Williamette Industries. He retired and moved to Greenwood in 1981 and enjoyed card games, tractor driving, ice fishing, driving the Amish and traveling to Germany, Alaska, Mexico and Africa. John was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greenwood.

He will be sadly missed by his daughters, Doris (Joe) Braden of Grant Pass, Ore., Alice (Mike) Fitzpatrick and Dawn (William) Cox, all of Albany, Ore.; his sons, Norbert (Judy) of Modesto, Calif., and Kenneth (Ann) of Albany, Ore.; his sisters, Barbara DeMar of McHenry, Ill., Magdaline Kettner of Menominee; and his brothers, Clayton (Geraldine) of Loyal, Francis (Carolyn) of Greenwood and Joe (Geraldine) of Brookfield. He is further survived by his sister-in-law, Elvera Kolnhoefer of Lakeville, Minn.; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one brother, Victor; and grandchildren, James Braden, Jason Kelnhoefer and Tamara Conner.
