Stowe, Rufus (16 Jan. 1892 - 21 Sept. 1961)

Rufus Stowe died last Thursday morning at about 9:00 o’clock in St. Joseph’s Hospital at Marshfield at the age of 69 years after suffering from a head injury in the basement of his home on Route 1, Unity, Tuesday. Robert Lueloff, Clark county coroner, said that the death resulted from the accident.

Funeral services were held at the Myre Funeral Home in Loyal, Rev. Paul Doering, pastor of the Loyal Methodist church, officiated and internment was made in the town of Beaver cemetery.

Mr. Stowe was born in the town of Beaver on January 16, 1892, and had farmed in the Unity area most of his life. He married the former Clara Johnson on August 27, 1912, in Colby, Wis. She died on July 30, 1961.

Surviving are a son, Glen, of Unity, Route 1; two daughters, Mrs. Josephine Raatz of Unity, Route 1, and Mrs. Clarence (Florence) Braun of Rockford, Ill.; three brothers, John and Earl Stowe of Unity, Route 1, and Bert of Idaho; a sister, Mrs. Eltha Pyatt of Owen; seven grand children and one great grand child.

A daughter, three brothers and a sister also preceded him in death.
