COLBY -- Evelyn R. "Evie" Alexander, 97, of Colby, formerly of Loyal and Owen, died Wednesday, March 11, 2009, at the Colonial Center in Colby, Wis.

Cuddie Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

COLBY -- Evelyn R. "Evie" Alexander, 97, of Colby, formerly of Loyal and Owen, died Wednesday, March 11, 2009, at the Colonial Center in Colby, Wis.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 21, 2009, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Loyal. Inurnment will take place in Colby Memorial Cemetery at a later date.

Visitation will be held at the church Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of service.

Evelyn R. Edblom was born on the home farm in Unity on March 1, 1912, to Arthur H. and Alvina A. (Johnson) Edblom. She was united in marriage on Nov. 23, 1932, to Cecil E. Alexander, in Greenwood. She was a homemaker and farmed with her husband in the town of Green Grove until 1977. He preceded her in death Dec. 12, 1987. She continued to live on the farm until 1996.

Evie is survived by a daughter, Janice E. (Allan) Niemi of Loyal; four grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Ethel Felker of Oshkosh, Eleanor Mellenthin of Spencer and Gail (Amos) Mainard of Mesa, Ariz.; and three brothers, Arlyn (Zona) Edblom of Colby, Alvin Edblom of Medford and Alfred Edblom of Unity, Wis.

Cuddie Funeral Home of Loyal is assisting the family with arrangements.
