Knudson, Leonard #2 (1881 - 8 MAR 1949)

Funeral services were conducted at Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.) this afternoon for Leonard Knudson (says Knutson in the article), aged 67 years, who passed away at 2:15 p.m. Saturday, May 8th, 1949 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield. Services were conducted at 1:30 p.m. from the funeral parlors at two o’clock from the Norwegian Lutheran Church with Rev. Theodore Nelson officiating. Burial was made in the Greenwood Cemetery.

Leonard Knudson succumbed to an illness that had been bothering him for some time but he continually fought out its effects and refused to let himself give up to it even for treatment. He had been employed for the past four years as janitor at the Owen Grade School where he performed his duties until two days before his death. On Friday he was confined to his bed at his apartment and later that evening was taken to the hospital where he passed away the next day.

The possessor of a friendly and amicable disposition, Leonard Knudson was respected by the entire student body and the faculty with whom he was so closely associated. His absence in the school system will be missed as he was a most capable individual and performed many numerous minor jobs that were not of the actual scope of his responsibilities.

Prior to his becoming associated with the school system he had been a successful farmer and long time resident of the Withee community, until he sold his farm several years ago.

Mrs. Knudson, the former Nina Augusta Gaader, died Feb. 18, 1944. Surviving are two sons, Leonard Jr. and Omar, and two daughters, Margaret and Nadine.

The grade school recessed at noon today so as to enable the faculty members to attend the funeral services.
