Donald Ketcham Receives 2nd Lieutenant Commission

Sgt. Donald Thomas Ketcham, Hdqs. Battery, 121st Field Artillery, has the distinction of being the first 32nd Division enlisted man to receive an original appointment to the grade of 2nd Lieutenant, since the Division has been on maneuvers.

Lt. Ketcham took his oath before Lt. Colonel Leo B. Levenick, Adjutant General in the Division’s rear echelon command post located in a country school house near Longville, on August 20. Lt. Ketcham first enlisted in the National Guard in November, 1937, at Abbotsford, Wisconsin, and from then on has steadily advanced to the grade of Sergeant. He has successfully completed the officers candidate course conducted by the 121st Field Artillery, and consequently was appointed as 2nd Lieutenant.

Prior to induction last October, Lt. Ketcham was a student at the University of Wisconsin, majoring in dentistry. He is 22 years of age and from Abbotsford, Wis. He has been assigned to duty with the 121st Field Artillery.
