Graduates of St. Mary’s Honored at Breakfast

Eighth grade graduates of St. Mary’s Catholic School and members of the parish who are graduates of Colby High School this year, were honored guests at a breakfast served at the school gym on Sunday morning, May 20. Following the meal a short program was held with an opening prayer by Father John Pinion. Robert Dums, as master of ceremonies, introduced guests present: Harold Schumaher, high school guidance director, Mrs. Arthur Wiedenhoeft, Mrs. Lawrence Allmann and Miss Jean Berg, of St. Mary’s faculty. Miss Bette Jicinsky then sang "Graduation Day," Miss Carole Kassie spoke for the eighth grade and Miss Mary Ann Baumgart for the senior class. Father Hilary Seubert, a member of the faculty of Holy Cross Seminary, La Crosse, then addressed the graduates. Miss Jicinsky sang "I Love Thee, O Mary" and Father Pinion offered the closing prayer.

Members of the graduating class of St. Mary’s are Gregory Allmann, Kathy Anderson, David Barts, Marlene Baumgart, Larry Decker, Richard Ellenbecker, Patricia Herrick, Barbara Hilber, Michael Hilber, Marlene Hollman, Allen Hubing, Linda Johnson, Carole Kassie, Melvin Kloehn, Mary Beth Meyer, Teresa Miller, John Mueller, Kathleen Mueller, Mary Beth Nikolai, Mary Ramker, Russel Reis, Eunice Sauer, Mavis Schmidt, Jeneanne Scidmore, Ann Singstock, Patricia Spence, Charles Stuttgen, Melvin Stuttgen, and JoAnn Will.

Members of St. Mary’s parish who are high school graduates are Audrey Barts, Mary Ann Baumgart, Mary Becker, Jane Beisner, Gary Cook, Robert Dums, Margaret Firnstahl, Bill Grauman, Eleanore Hackel, Carol Jean Hebert, Bette Jicinsky, Roger Luzinski, Helen Martin, Ray Rachu, Beverly Romens, Carol Schraufnagel, Ray Stuttgen, Janet Svoboda, Mark Umhoefer, Carol Young.

Graduation diplomas were distributed on Wednesday evening in St. Mary’s church at the services in honor of the Queen of May. A Living Rosary formed by girls of the 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th grades and the Mass servers led the praying of the Rosary. Girls of the seventh grade performed the crowing of the Blessed Virgin with Miss Kathy Lamont as queen and Miss Julianne Weix, as crown bearer and the following girls in her court of honor: Susan Schraufnagel, Sharon Firnstahl, Myra Amacher, Janice Goodwin, Barbara Spence, *** Note: The remainder of this article was missing.
