Koerner, Moritz (22 Sept. 1866 - 14 Sept. 1941)

Moritz Koerner, 75, died Sunday morning of a heart attack at his home 1 ½ miles northeast of Curtiss. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Curtiss Evangelical Reformed Church at 2 o’clock and burial made in the Pine Hill cemetery. The Rev. S. A. Schmiechen conducted the services.

Mr. Koerner was born Sept. 22, 1866 in Germany. Sept. 5, 1886 he was married to Clara Erler, Milwaukee, and two years later they came to Curtiss. The following year they moved to the farm northwest of the village. Mr. Koerner was bedridden the past eleven years as a result of a stroke and had been seriously ill the past two weeks with asthma and heart trouble.

Surviving him are his widow, four sons, William of Walworth, Ervin of Curtiss, George at home and Oscar of Dorchester; and three daughters, Mrs. Emil (Mary) Trester, Milwaukee, Mrs. Donald (Anna) Trowbridge, Milladore, and Mrs. George (Ellen) Uhlig, Abbotsford, Wis. There are 23 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. A sister and two brothers live in Germany.
