Hemlock

Mrs. Byron Meade called on relatives in Hemlock last Monday.

A. B. Tupper sold his team of horses to Sam Smith.

Some of the children and older people have been having the mumps.

Those who came to picnic and fish last Sunday were driven home rather early by the threatening weather.

Mrs. A. S. Armstrong spent several days with her sister, Mrs. J. E. Colby, near Thorp.

Last Sunday as W. W. Varney was leaving after Sunday school his horses became unmanageable and started at a speed to suit themselves. A couple of fishermen were coming along in a cart, one of them jumped out to assist in stopping the team. The wheel or pole of the wagon struck a large bottle, which he was carrying in his pocket, smashing it to atoms--no further damage. The horses were stopped by the combined efforts of Mr. Varney, Geo. Warner and Charley Limprecht.
