Nelson, James T. (9 AUG 1926 - 7 NOV 2013)

James T. Nelson, 87, of Chippewa Falls, died peacefully on Thursday, Nov. 7, 2013, at Wissota Health and Regional Vent Center in Chippewa Falls, under the care of St. Joseph’s Hospice.

He was born on August 9, 1926, in the Town of Dover, Buffalo County, the son of Haven and Lena Nelson.

James served in the United States Marines from 1946 to 1949.

He married Greta R. Lueth on January 17, 1953, in Eau Claire. They farmed together in Chippewa County. Jim also worked various jobs at Presto Industries, Gould’s Inc., and Park Towers Apartments. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, gardening, and spending time with his family and friends.

Jim is survived by two sons, James A. (Peggy) of Chippewa Falls and William J. (Cindy) of Bloomer; daughter, Diana (Neil) Baker of Auburn, Ind.; five grandchildren, Staci Nelson, Ashley Hartman, Jonathan Baker, Dylan Nelson, and Logan Nelson; a great granddaughter, Alexis Ann Loew; sisters, Grace (Steve) Govin, Muriel Kolstad, Alice Lovegren and Delores Orf; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Greta; parents; infant brother, Roger; brother, Wallace; and sister, Edith Krall.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013, at Plymouth United Church of Christ, 2010 Moholt Drive, Eau Claire, with Pastor David Huber presiding. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Eau Claire. Visitation was held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 12, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Ave., Eau Claire, and one hour prior to services at the church.

The family would like to thank Comforts of Home, Wissota Health and Regional Vent Center, and St. Joseph’s Hospice for their care and compassion.
