Meilke, Leopold (28 Dec. 1882 - 31 Aug. 1962)

Leopold Meilke of Colby, Wisconsin died at his home Friday at 7:30 A.M. at the age of 79 years after an illness of several months. Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at the Zion Lutheran church, Rev. Wm. R. Christian officiating, and internment was made in the Colby Memorial cemetery (Colby, Wisconsin). Pall bearers were Elmer Bessler, August Kunkler, Otto, Edward, Hugo and Carl Meilke, all nephews.

Mr. Meilke was born in Poland on December 28, 1882, and came to the United States in 1910 and was employed on a dock in Chicago, Ill. His marriage to Emile Molzan took place in July 16, 1916, in Chicago. After their marriage, the couple came to Marathon county and farmed here until 1944 when they retired and moved to the city of Colby, Wis.

He is survived by his wife and the following nephews and nieces: Otto, Carl and Edward Meilke of Edgar, Hugo Meilke of Colby, Mrs. August Kunkel of Stratford, Mrs. William Wolff of Edgar, Mrs. Edwin Nichol of Engadine, Mich., and Mrs. Elmer Bessler of Colby, Wis.
