Rasmussen, Ida (29 APR 1869 - 15 MAY 1950)

Mrs. Jacob Rasmussen passed away at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Leon Smith of Withee (Clark Co., Wis.), May 15th, 1950. Her death was due to natural old age complications. She was 81 years of age.

Funeral services were held this afternoon at two o’clock from the Danish Lutheran Church, Withee. The Rev. J. L. J. Dixen officiated at the final rites. Burial was made in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were five sons, Holgar B., Thorvald, Ove, Arnold and Viggo, and Leon Smith, a son-in-law. The floral tributes were many and beautiful. Mrs. Rasmussen was a kind and Christian woman and respected and loved by all.

She was born on Feb. 13, 1869 in Denmark. On April 19, 1896 she was untied in marriage to her husband at Superior, Wis. Later they moved to this community, residing on a farm northwest of Withee, where they established themselves as pioneers of Hixon Township.

Mrs. Rasmussen was a member of the Danish Lutheran Church, being a charter member of the Danish Ladies Aid. She was the last of the charter members in this organization, in which she had always taken an active part as she did in the community affairs in which she lived for so many years.

Surviving and mourning her departure from these worldly surroundings are three sisters and a brother in Denmark; five sons, Holgar B. of Spooner, Wis.; Thorvald, Tyler, Minn.; Ove, Menomonie, Wis.; Arnold of Withee and Viggo of La Crosse; three daughters, Mrs. Richard (Herdis) Nielsen, Withee, Mrs. Leon (Agnes) Smith, Withee and Mrs. Harold (Dagmar) Christensen, Withee, 20 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
