Las Vegas, Nevada - Arvin L. Merwin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Merwin, of Abbotsford, has been promoted to the rank of sergeant from that of corporal at the Air Corps Gunnery school here, where he is a member of the 50th school squadron and is assigned to duty as an airplane mechanic. Sgt. Merwin entered the United States army Aug. 8, 1941 at Milwaukee as a selectee.
The sergeant is a 1935 graduate of the Abbotsford high school.
